Walnut Squirrel with Flowers in Cypress Frame

The star of our walnut and white mica collection? Of course I might be biased.

A gorgeous sheet of 1/4" thick solid black walnut provides the canvas for this carving. 

The squirrel and flowers are carved into the walnut then filled with white pearl mica suspended in solid non yellowing resin.  Meticulously sanded down and buffed with tung oil, then sealed with a mixture of carnauba and beeswax. This process brings out the warm glow of the walnut and amplifies the pearlescent of the inlay.

The carving is framed in solid furniture grade cypress. The back is fitted with artist paper to created a dustcover. A single low profile sawtooth hanger is installed on the back, allowing you to hang this amazing piece with only one fastener.  Please note that the frame actually houses the carving and cannot be removed.

The item in the photo is the actual piece of art you will receive, for the express reason that each one will be unique dependent on wood grain!
